Drawing from Bachelard's assertion that "our soul is an abode," my artwork delves into a phenomenological exploration of intimate spaces. Through theatrical staging, I endeavor to portray the fragmented self, utilising light and reflection to infuse my imagery with dreamlike depth. Employing the maquette as a stage for this dramatization evokes psychological associations with doll play and miniaturization. These methods of narrative control allow for a heightened awareness of the world, albeit with minimal risk.
My creative direction is heavily influenced by my architectural background, particularly my research into primitive shelters and the archetypal concept of home. Additionally, I draw inspiration from female artists such as Cindy Sherman and Claude Cahun, who have tackled issues around the artist’s identity. Their work prompts contemplation on the complexities of self-representation within the realm of art.
